Opening Statement:
- The goal for the Hazards Ohio Cup is to have fun and fair competition for players at all levels while exploring new golf courses in our area. Our hope is to create a lasting tradition we can maintain for years to come.
Membership:
- The Hazards Ohio Cup consists of 12 individual players.
- Members are required to use the Grint app for competition play. This helps establish a handicap amongst all members and tracks your scores during the round. The app allows members to view the live leaderboard for the group. It can also offer insights to help improve your game. Additional guidance on how to use the app will be share prior to the first round.
Tee Box:
- The tee box we play each round will be decided once we arrive at the course. All players must play from the same tees. Tees will either be the tips or the one-ups, depending on the course.
- Starting order on the first tee box will be decided by the storied tradition of the “Tee Flip”.
Rules of Play:
- Where not outlined in the rules or if not defined, we will follow the standard USGA rules.
- Standard golf rules and etiquette apply.
- If there is a rules issue or questions, players should discuss with their playing partners and proceed based on the agreed upon ruling.
- We play ready golf.
- Pick, Clean, and Place is allowed in the fairway and fringe. All other locations are played down, and if moved will result in a penalty stroke.
- All putts must be holed out.
- If a shot is hit out-of-bounds, a one stroke penalty is always assessed. The player then has the following two options in determining from where to play their next shot:
- The next shot may be played from any spot (including re-teeing) along the line from the shot’s point of origin to the point at which the ball crossed the out-of-bounds line, provided the selected spot is no nearer to the hole.
- Or, the next shot may be played at a point within two club lengths of the boundary crossing point, but no nearer to the hole.
Fees / Money Games / Prizes:
- Season dues are $50, which will be used for prizes at the end of the year.
- Each golfer must pay for their golf either payable to the scheduler or to the course on the day of play.
- next Skins and Greenies games will be played each round. Cost will be $10 per 18 holes and will not be handicapped. Money will be added and then divided equally by the number of Par 3’s or the number of Skins.
- next If there are no skins awarded during the round, then the money will rover to the next round. However, all participants must pay both rounds Skins & Greenies fees to be eligible to win. (example: If a player did not pay for Skins & Greenies in the prior round, where no Skins were awarded, they must then pay $12 in the current round to be whole and eligible).
- $4 of the $10 goes to prize money for Greenies (closets to the pin on any par 3).
- $6 of the $10 goes to prize money for Skins (lowest score on an individual hole amongst all 12 players. No ties, and handicaps are not applied).
- If a player makes a Hole-In-One or Albatross, they will receive the entire pot of money for that round. It is encouraged that the individual that made the shot utilizes their winnings to purchases beverages for the group to celebrate after the round.
- The Cup Champion will take home all winnings and the coveted Hazards Jacket!
- 1st Place = $600 cash prize.
Handicaps:
- Handicaps will be determined based on your logged scores on the Grint app. We will utilize the middle of the range provided by the app.
- If a player does not have an established handicap on Grint, their handicap for the first round will be based on their handicap in the Hazards Weekly Golf League.
- If a player does not have a established handicap on Grint and does not play in the Hazards Weekly League, we will use an estimate based on their suggested playing level.
- If an estimate is used and the player shoots under their estimated handicap, then their handicap will be the score that player shot in their first round.
FedEx Cup Scoring:
- We will use a scoring model similar to the PGA Tour FedEx Cup system.
- In the event that a complete round of golf is unable to be finished due to weather, The winner of that week will be decided by totaling up the score from the holes that all members were able to complete (example: If a rain check is called when the 3 groups are on holes 12, 13, and 14. We will take the scores for all players from holes 1 through 11). Results will still be based on net scoring.
- purchases If two or more players are tied at the completion of the round, each player will received the point total for the highest position that the tied group could finishe (example: If three players are tied for 3rd place, they will all received the point value for 3rd place). The remaining finishing behind the tied group will received the point value in numerical order, in this example, the remaining players would receive the point value of 4th place and so on.
- Points will be awarded based on the below breakdown for the Regular Season and the Championship Round.
